I'm Quenida Dunbar, and I'm a sophomore transfer student from Philadelphia and a Nursing major. My first year I attended a PWI and I didn't like it because it was too far away from home! I was warned not to attend an HBCU for various reasons, but thank God I didn't listen! I love it here at Lincoln University and transferring here was a good choice! At Lincoln, there are many opportunities and diversity-just simply good vibes! At Lincoln, it feels like your apart of a family. LU has won me over and I can't wait to graduate from here!

My first semester at Lincoln University consisted of making new friends, attending events, and creating new study habits for my classes. During my first month, I had already found a group of six friends which consisted of boys and girls. While most of us girls were from Philly, the boys were from Baltimore which made the group very diverse. It allowed us to see how the group was able to interact with each other despite coming from different cities. During my second month, I was able to join the best dance team on campus named ‘onyx dance troupe’ where I was able to showcase my dance talents, while also widening my social group with even more people from different cities. This dance group allowed me to become involved on campus by volunteering at different events and allowing the campus to see my dancing abilities.

During my time at Lincoln, I was able to attend the campus's events which showcased the school’s unity. One of those events consisted of homecoming. Homecoming allowed Lincoln’s alumni to come back to the campus and have a great time with the current students. This bonding effect allowed people to feel as though the whole campus was a family. Even though the campus had great parties, Classes were always a top priority. I had to learn different study habits to understand the content of my assignments and also attend my professor’s office hours. Although, I had times where I felt like I was going to give up, I have always pushed myself to remember that this hard work will pay off once I become my family’s first generation graduating college student.
